Flemish Capriccio circle of Jan Brueghel II SOLD
Description:
"Fantastic Landscape" Flemish Capriccio Jan Brueghel II the Younger (Brussels 1601 - Antwerp 1678) circle Oil on panel Late 17th century era Measurements cm. 27 x 22 Excellent condition (The painting has no restorations or repainting) This splendid jewel, painted with extraordinary technique, excellently highlights the unparalleled pictorial skills of the famous landscape masters of the Flemish school. Among these great artists, the BRUEGHELs stood out for their exceptional skill and fervent imagination, a family of Belgian artists who perfectly interpreted the Flemish pictorial creed. The work under examination particularly reflects the production of Jan Brueghel II the Younger, son of Jan Brueghel the Elder, nephew of Pieter Brueghel and father of Abraham Brueghel, famous for his sumptuous still lifes. The author of the painting is an excellent painter working in the circle of these Masters and the reference to Jan Brueghel II is highlighted, in addition to the chromatic contrast, by the atypical description of the landscape. His "Capriccios" are distinguished in fact from the works of his Father, of whom he was a pupil, for a more "paradisiacal" vision of the landscape while maintaining the same miniaturistic depictions.
