This painting depicting Saint Joseph with Child, or rather Fatherhood, is an unpublished work by the famous Milanese master Carlo Francesco Nuvolone, one of the greatest exponents of the Lombard school of the 17th century.
The work is to be placed in the third decade of the 17th century. In fact, it is close, albeit with some variations, to the painting by Nuvolone kept in the museums of the Castello Sforzesco in Milan (dated around 1638).
The canvas, completely identical both in the full brushstroke and in the color, is in excellent condition, professionally relined.
