EXCEPTIONAL WORK - "THE CHARIOT RACE OF BEN HUR" - EXTRAORDINARY UNIQUE MASTERPIECE IN MURANO GLASS  Translated
Description:
THE CHARIOT RACE OF BEN HUR - UNIQUE MUSEUM MASTERPIECE IN THE WORLD - Master Alessandro Barbaro and assistants Author: Master Alessandro Barbaro and assistants Description of the work Entirely in glass, including the pavement in "excavated glass". The sculptures (horses approx. 40 cm, human figures approx. 45 cm), of astonishing anatomical realism and extraordinary dynamism and expressive force, are made "in solid core" (without internal void). In a time when we cannot move much, we thought of having our Palazzo del Buon Signore ancient art gallery visited (www.palazzodelbuonsignore.com) by those who love antiques. The idea is precisely that of a real Virtual Tour. Enter our gallery, stroll through our rooms, linger on the objects you like best, looking up to "enter" with your gaze inside our chandeliers! Resume the visit letting yourself be seduced by curiosity! At the end of the visit you will have a surprise that has to do with .... dreams! Multiple processing techniques: left quadriga (Ben Hur with the horses Aldebaran, Antares, Rigel and Aldair) "crystal (cristao) and gold" processing; quadriga in the center (horses fallen in the dust during the race and their driver) "excavated, ice and opaline" processing with hot passage in glass powder (effect "sand"); right quadriga, the Roman Messala, "black glass (or hyalit) and gold" processing, the black is obtained in a mixture from the combination of cobalt with manganese oxide (pyrolusite). The work took 6 years of work and the result is that of a UNIQUE MASTERPIECE IN THE WORLD Murano (Venice) - 20th century (1990s and following) - Master Alessandro Barbaro and assistants - Dimensions: Height 80.0 cm. Width 460.0 cm. - Depth 180.0 cm. Historical notes The famous epic film "Ben Hur" dates back to 1959, directed by William Wyler and starring Charlton Heston in the role of Judah Ben Hur. The film was crowned with 11 Academy Awards (a real record) and is based on the nineteenth-century historical novel by the American Lew Wallace. The film is set, in parallel with the Life and Passion of Jesus Christ, in Palestine and Jerusalem of the 1st century AD and tells the story of Ben Hur, aristocratic head of one of the oldest Jewish families in Palestine and his friend-enemy Messala, of Roman origin. The film is structured on three key scenes: the forced laborers at the oars, the naval battle and, of course, the famous chariot race considered by all critics the most famous sequence in the history of cinema (32 minutes without interruption which for an action scene constitute a record). It was shot over 3 months at the Circus Maximus and at the Circus of Maxentius in Rome. The victory of Ben Hur with his extraordinary quadriga of white horses (Aldebaran, Antares, Rigel and Aldair) and the death on the field of Messala remain indelible in the viewer's mind.
