Description:
Splendid Dutch secretaire made of mahogany (solid oak hull) in the mid-19th century. Decorated in every part with rich inlays of cornucopias, vases, floral and leafy elements in maple wood. Under the top there is a hidden drawer, a drop-leaf and two doors down: the height to the writing surface, also inlaid internally (photo n°7), is 70 cm. A delightful desk, completely inlaid, consists of a scalloped full-length drawer with a compartment below, 4 drawers (2 on each side) with a small door in the center that conceals an additional small drawer inside. The ovals we find on the sides (photo n°9), outside the drop-leaf (photo n°6) and in the two doors (photo n°8), in addition to the rectangular finish of the under-top drawer (photo n°5) and the edge of the upper shelf, are finished around the perimeter with inlays called 'mandolette', an alternation of light-dark wood obliques. The maximum dimensions of the secretaire are 105x55 cm (h.154), of the body 95x43 cm. Good state of conservation: the price includes complete restoration.
