This splendid painting, depicting a beautiful Madonna in profile receiving a tender caress from the Child seated in her arms, is truly of excellent quality. The scene takes place outdoors under a cherry tree, a symbol of passion.
The colours are particularly vibrant, and the complexions of the two figures are very luminous, as is the Virgin's crimson cloak.
The painting, evidently of excellent craftsmanship, belongs to the finest French production of the 18th century, by a Master inspired by the models of Simon Vouet and Pierre Mignard.
Excellent state of preservation.
Beautiful and important gilded frame, perfectly restored.
