Herrmann Moroder, sculptor from an important family within the sculptural tradition of Val Gardena.
The bronze work has an incredible force in its closed and compact form. Created during wartime (dated on the back 1943), it emanates a sense of the reality of the time, and of the moment that the mountain population was going through. Sculpture worked with great softness and experience. We find this genre in the painting of the early 1900s (A. Egger Lienz, Alfons Walde, Ignaz Stolz and other important painters from Tyrol) but it is very difficult to find it in sculpture.
