"RICH" STILL LIFE WITH AUTUMNAL FRUIT - Art from Southern Italy - Twentieth Century  Translated
Description:
A rich painting in the composite still life with a basket of fresh autumn fruit. A real composition enriched with various black and white table grapes, among which the "Pizzuttella" variety can be recognized, typical of central and southern Italy, "Regina" grapes of ancient origin, plums, gooseberries, pears, apples and, inside the basket leaning against the architecture, a well-wishing pomegranate open with its beautiful red seeds. In the foreground, an open pumpkin with its evocative and typical orange color attracts attention. Quality painting from a pictorial and coloristic point of view with relevant botanical details. As a whole it can be defined as a well-wishing painting for prosperity and fertility; the various grapes that abound, the pomegranate, an excellent well-wishing fruit for fertility, here it has been opened to scatter its seeds to wish good luck and the pumpkin also opened releasing the seeds would make "ringing money rain!!". The term "Still Life" in the Italian language is an expression that was coined in the nineteenth century to translate the term "Still-Leben" (exactly "Suspended Nature") or from the Dutch term still-leven, or from the English Stillife where one wants to describe a nature that "stops" in that instant, while the painter paints the flowers or fruit that are in the period of the commission of the painting sometimes also trespassing into botanical exercises in which the painter waits for the different seasons to paint the "passing" of time in nature. Oil on canvas. Art from Central-Southern Italy - XX century. Measurements: height cm. 69.5 width cm. 98.5  Translated
