GIÒ PONTI, RICHARD GINORI, Doccia manufacture, flowered bottle, white gold porcelain

Giò Ponti, "Flowered" bottle in white and gold porcelain, manufactured by Doccia Richard Ginori, dated 1935. It was exhibited in the exhibition "Art Italien des XIXème et XXème siècles" at the national gallery of Jeu de Paume in Paris in 1935, decorative arts section. Under the base there is the gold leaf cartouche with the inscription "Richard-Ginori, Doccia manufacture" inside, Giò Ponti's gold leaf signature and the "Richard Ginori 35 -5 " mark. Dimensions: Height 24 cm Depth 6.5 cm Length 11.5 cm The bottle-sculpture, in its simplicity of form and soft cream monochrome, provides the background to a sculptural explosion in relief of multiple and varied floral forms, made separately one by one and then molded to the bottle-body as if to create an arched window opening due to the impossibility of containing them on the flat part, thus forming a sort of slender frame to frame the many floral forms that overlap and press to make space and emerge outwards, flowers decorated with gold leaf. - References and publications: Electa Mondadori s.p.a Milan.
