"The Deesis" Russian icon from the late 1700s SOLD

Splendid antique Russian icon depicting "The Deesis". The composition, in addition to the three main figures (Christ Pantocrator seated between the Virgin and Saint John the Baptist), portrays the four Evangelists in the upper part, the two Archangels Michael and Gabriel on either side of Christ, the two Prophets Elijah and Moses, and the saints Peter and Paul kneeling at his feet. --- Egg tempera on panel. ---- Russia, city of Moscow ---- Period: second half of the 18th century Dimensions: 36 x 30 cm The icon is in excellent condition with no repainting or retouching of the original paint layer. www.antichitaischia.it
