Important Farnese two-body cabinet from Emilia, Parma, 17th century  Translated
Dimensions: : 290 cm,: 175 cm,: 59 cm
Description:
Important and rare Farnese two-body cabinet in sculpted wood, featuring four doors. Shelf supports carved with floral motifs, beaded cornice. Doors, sides, and pilasters framed by braid and wave patterns. The pilasters, band, and cymatium feature elaborate carvings where the Farnese lily stands out repeatedly. The top is projecting and decorated with dentil-pattern carvings, followed by pod carvings and finally claw-pattern carvings. Inside, two drawers and a secret compartment. Although this type of carving characterizes Farnese-style furnishings of the 17th century, it is almost impossible to find a cabinet of this type constructed in two bodies. For comparisons, see: "Furniture in Parma between Baroque and Romanticism 1600-1860" by Giuseppe Cirillo and Giovanni Godi, Ermanno Albertelli Editore 1983, pp. 42-44 Emilia, Parma, 17th century. cm 290 x 175 x 59  Translated
