RARE CAGE WITH SINGING AND MOVING BIRDS (AUTOMATA) – Working (NEW ENTRY) - Video file with singing and movement recorded on request
Description:
Automata have always been built by master watchmakers to amaze. The joy that the vision and the sound of these automatons offer, which move, sing, look at each other, communicate with each other, without any apparent mechanical noise and as if by an arcane magic, stimulates the observer's imagination, offering him the sense of real life in the forest. In our case, this delightful and rare cage with the two birds "stages" the love song of the male nightingale to his companion who responds by echoing him. The synchrony and realism of the mechanical movement and the magical truthfulness of the sound are to be considered practically perfect and overlapping with reality. The search for this extraordinary effect of "non-virtual truth" made the difference between a good and a truly brilliant master watchmaker (as in this case). The smile and wonder of adults and children is guaranteed! The cage, built in Holland in the first two decades of the twentieth century, is made of copper-plated brass, the base, which contains the automata mechanism, is adorned around its circumference by a central floral band engraved with a burin. The two birds are of absolute aesthetic realism even covered with real plumage. The mechanism, powered by a ceramic barrel, is (obviously) particularly complex with polished brass gears and off-centre which, through linkages and returns, allow the movement of the birds, the asynchronous song, made through a triple-stage bellows, allows a clean and loud sound of exceptional realism. The complexity and constructive mastery of this mechanism are so perfect as to make it durable over time. Holland – first two decades of the twentieth century Measurements: Height cm. 30 - Width cm 14.5 NB.: soon on the You Tube channel it will be possible to listen to the song of the two nightingales of our cage. In any case, on request, we can send the video file with the delightful song and the realistic movement of these extraordinary automatons.
