As the famous Eli Terey, originally from the Black Forest, a prestigious manufacturer of clocks entirely made of wood, including automata, used to say: "wood is a living material that is shaped and worked by man with files, saws and chisels, creating works that are always unique and have a great scenic effect". He also always said that it is easier to build a bronze casting than a clock made entirely of wood.
Our monumental clock, dating back to the 1930s/40s, was designed by the famous Turin company "Carlo Amati" and represents the most complex and difficult art of fretwork. This magnificent clock, of large dimensions, has such a spectacular scenic effect that all families would like to have one in their home. The warmth of the wood, skillfully fitted and carved, guarantees a very special charm.
The clock represents an equestrian monument dedicated to Umberto I of Savoy placed on its crest. On the terracing we find depicted, to the right of the clock, "Justice", while on the left stands the "Maternity". All around are depicted Savoyard coats of arms skillfully carved.
Within the arches, supported by Corinthian columns, is placed the image of the "Winged Victory".
This clock, which arrived in our hands in less than splendid condition, after a skillful conservative restoration that lasted a long time, has now returned to its former glory.
The mechanism, located in the center of the crest, is equipped with a spiral escapement with a Junghans chimes. An elegant curtain closes the clock.
