Definition of incalmo glass
A Venetian technique that consists of perfectly matching two or more elements of different colors when hot in order to obtain the desired shape by shaping them together. This process requires great skill on the part of the master.
Application of gold dust
This technique consists of incorporating a very thin sheet of pure gold into the vitreous mass while it is still in a pasty state. If the glass is blown, the gold leaf shatters and gives the object a great luminosity given by the golden dust.
Definition of "lattimo glass"
It is a type of white glass similar to porcelain. It is obtained by opacifying the glass with tin oxide. Lattimo was used in the 17th and 18th centuries as an imitation of Chinese porcelain, especially for objects decorated with enamels. Rediscovered in the 20th century by glassworks such as Barovier & Toso and MVM Cappellin.
