Definition of incalmo glass
A Venetian technique that consists of perfectly matching two or more elements of different colors while hot, in order to obtain the desired shape by modeling them together. This procedure requires great skill on the part of the master.
Application of gold dust
This technique consists of incorporating a very thin sheet of pure gold within the vitreous mass while still in a pasty state. If the glass is blown, the gold leaf shatters and gives the object a great luminosity given by the golden powder.
Definition of "milk glass"
It is a type of white glass similar to porcelain. It is obtained by opacifying the glass with tin oxide. Milk glass was used in the 17th and 18th centuries as an imitation of Chinese porcelain, especially for objects decorated with enamels. Rediscovered in the 20th century by glassworks such as Barovier & Toso and MVM Cappellin.
