Description:
Turin papier-mâché box decorated in the 'arte povera' style with nine gallant and courtship scenes, each centered on each face of the object by graceful painted rocaille decorations. The edge of the lid is decorated with interweavings alternating with reserves decorated with triage. In good general condition, minor touch-ups where there were losses of the sandracca film; the straps that hold the lid are probably replacements.
The type of object, in papier-mâché, and the decorations attribute the object to Turin, third quarter of the 18th century.
