Gioacchino Meluzzi (Imola, 1884 – Imola, 1953)
Painter, sculptor, carver, cabinet maker. For many years he had his workshop at the Santa Caterina Institute, where he composed most of his works. He was a talented furniture maker, sought after by the upper middle class and nobility who demanded artistic furniture. He was one of the greatest representatives of classical cabinet making in Emilia-Romagna with frequent and well-calibrated references to the 15th-16th century tradition of sculpture, especially from the Tuscan area.
This sideboard cannot be defined as "just a piece of furniture" but rather as a true sculpture. On the other hand, this was the peculiarity of the master Gioacchino Meluzzi, a refined cabinet maker, but above all a Renaissance-type sculptor by vocation and inspiration.
In solid mahogany with magnificent auspicious putti carrying fruit sculpted in the round on the uprights.
