Late 19th-century Faenza writing desk made of lacquered wood, gilded, with a painted marble-effect top (as was customary in the Neo-Classical period). The front is slightly uneven, and the mouldings under the top place it among the typical productions of the Faenza master cabinetmakers. This desk, without drawers, is said to have belonged to a high-ranking prelate who used it to confess the faithful!
