Pigeons of the Evening (1955)

"Pigeons of the Evening" is the title indicated by the author on the back of the canvas (detail photo no. 2). The painting highlights the chromatic and tonal sensitivity of the Livorno painter Angelo Sirio Pellegrini (1908-97), acquired in the post-Macchiaioli training and refined in the school of Ottone Rosai, of whom he was a student; the long relationship with the master deeply marked the work of this refined artist, who uses common subjects like this to express his own original, intimate poetic style. The painting is signed in the lower left corner and dated 1955 on the back. Oil on canvas, 46 x 66 cm, in excellent condition.
